Matthew Tkachuk Biography

Matthew Brendan Tkachuk, born December 11, 1997, is an American professional ice hockey player who has played as a winger and alternate captain for the Florida Panthers in the National Hockey League. He has played for the Calgary Flames prior to joining the Florida Panthers. Tkachuk was selected sixth overall in the first round of the 2016 NHL entry draft by the Calgary Flames. Matthew Tkachuk has played for the United States in the U17 World Hockey Challenge, the U18 World Championship, the 2016 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, and the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off. During the 2021–22 and 2022–23 NHL seasons, he recorded 104 and 109 points, respectively, placing him among the league's top ten point-scorers. In 2023, he was named a finalist for the NHL's Hart Memorial Trophy, awarded to the league's most valuable player. Before the 2015–16 season, he chose to join the London Knights roster, ending his NCAA eligibility and withdrawing from his commitment to the University of Notre Dame.
