Matt Fitzpatrick Biography

Matthew Thomas Fitzpatrick, born on 1 September 1994, is an English professional golfer who has established a strong presence on the global tour. He captured the 2013 U.S. Amateur title before claiming his first professional victory at the 2015 British Masters. As of 2026, Fitzpatrick holds five PGA Tour wins, including a major triumph at the 2022 US Open at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts. He previously won the 2012 Boys Amateur Championship at Notts Golf Club in Hollinwell. After enrolling at Northwestern University in September 2013, he left after one quarter in January 2014 to focus on amateur golf. In April 2016, he finished tied for 7th at the Masters Tournament and later won the 2016 Nordea Masters, reaching a career-high 32nd in the Official World Golf Ranking. He claimed the 2017 Omega European Masters in a playoff over Scott Hend and successfully defended his title in 2018 with a playoff win over Lucas Bjerregaard.
