Marcus Mariota Biography

Marcus Mariota, born October 30, 1993, is an American professional football quarterback who has played in the National Football League. He played college football for the Oregon Ducks and won the Heisman Trophy in 2014. Mariota was selected second overall by the Tennessee Titans in the 2015 NFL draft. During his first four seasons as a starter, he helped the Titans reach the playoffs in 2017, their first appearance since 2008, and win a postseason game for the first time since 2003. Mariota was relatively unknown in football until late in his high school career, having not started until his senior year. As a senior, he led St. Louis to an 11–1 record and the Hawaii Division I state title, earning recognition as Offensive Player of the Year. At the 2011 HHSAA T&F Championships, he placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.41 seconds and fourth in the long jump at 20 feet 7 inches.
