Manny Machado Biography

Manuel Arturo Machado, born on July 6, 1992, is an American professional baseball player who has played as a third baseman and shortstop in Major League Baseball. Raised in Miami, he attended Brito High School and was selected by the Baltimore Orioles with the third overall pick in the 2010 MLB draft. Machado made his MLB debut with the Baltimore Orioles in August 2012 after progressing through their minor league system. In 2018, he was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he contributed to the team’s run to the World Series. Since 2013, he has been named to the All-Star Game seven times and has earned two Gold Gloves and three Silver Slugger Awards. He attended Brito Miami Private School and had committed to play college baseball at Florida International University. While his agent negotiated his contract, he played for USA Baseball’s 18-and-under national team during the summer of 2010.
