Lynn Swann Biography

Lynn Curtis Swann was born on March 7, 1952, and is an American former professional football player, broadcaster, politician, and athletic director best known for his time with the University of Southern California and the Pittsburgh Steelers. From 2002 to 2005, Swann served on the President's Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition. Lynn Swann was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001 after winning four Super Bowls and earning three Pro Bowl selections with the Steelers. In 1970, Swann won the CIF California State championship in track, defeating future Olympic gold medalist Randy Williams. At the University of Southern California, Swann played as a consensus All-American on the Trojan football team under head coach John McKay, including the 1972 national champion team. In 1971, Swann recorded 27 receptions for 305 yards and two touchdowns. In 1973, Swann rushed for 99 yards while catching 42 passes for 714 yards and six touchdowns.
