Luke Kuechly Biography

Luke August Kuechly, born April 20, 1991, played eight seasons in the NFL as a professional linebacker for the Carolina Panthers. He earned consensus All-American honors twice while playing college football for the Boston College Eagles. In 2012, Kuechly led the NFL in tackles and won the Associated Press Defensive Rookie of the Year award. After retiring following the 2019 season, he served two seasons with the Panthers in a pro scout role. He was named a two-time All Greater Catholic League selection, earning first-team honors in 2008. After visiting Boston College, Virginia, Duke, and Stanford, he committed to Boston College in January 2009. As a true freshman in 2009, he became the Eagles' starting outside linebacker after Mark Herzlich's cancer diagnosis.
