Lindsay Scott Biography

Lindsay Eugene Scott, born on December 6, 1960, was an American former professional football player who played as a wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints in the National Football League. He played college football for the Georgia Bulldogs, representing the university in collegiate competition. Scott was selected 13th overall in the 1982 NFL draft and played four seasons with the New Orleans Saints. During the 1980 Florida–Georgia game, with only a minute remaining and a perfect season at stake, Georgia quarterback Buck Belue threw a pass that reached Scott at the 25-yard-line. The play, famously described by Georgia radio announcer Larry Munson, became known as a pivotal moment in the game's final minutes. This play preserved Georgia's opportunity to claim the national title, which they ultimately secured. Robbie Burns published Belue to Scott! in 2010, a book that describes a notable play in Georgia football history.
