Lennox Lewis Biography

Lennox Lewis, born on 2 September 1965, was a professional boxer in the heavyweight division from 1989 to 2003 and later became a boxing commentator. He was a three-time world champion, a two-time lineal champion, and held the undisputed championship. As a Canadian amateur boxer, Lennox Lewis won the super-heavyweight gold medal at the 1988 Olympics after competing in the 1984 Games. In his first three years as a professional, Lewis won several regional heavyweight championships, including the European, British, and Commonwealth titles. Lewis avenged the loss in a 1997 rematch to regain the vacant WBC title. Two fights against Evander Holyfield in 1999 saw Lewis become undisputed heavyweight champion by unifying his WBC title with Holyfield's World Boxing Association and International Boxing Federation titles. The WBA removed Lewis's title in 2000 after he opted to fight Michael Grant rather than face mandatory challenger John Ruiz.
