Larry Richard Csonka was born on December 25, 1946, and played as a fullback in the National Football League, primarily with the Miami Dolphins. He also played for the New York Giants and had a brief stint with the Memphis Southmen in the World Football League. Csonka was part of the Miami Dolphins' 17–0 perfect season in 1972 and won Super Bowls in 1972 and 1973, including being named Super Bowl MVP in 1973 after rushing for 145 yards. He is the Miami Dolphins' all-time leading rusher with 6,737 yards and 53 touchdowns, and he earned five Pro Bowl selections and three first-team All-Pro honors. In his final season with the Dolphins in 1979, Csonka was awarded the NFL Comeback Player of the Year. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1987 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 1989. Csonka began his football career at Stow High School.
