Lance Armstrong Biography

Lance Edward Armstrong, born September 18, 1971, is an American former professional road racing cyclist. He won the Tour de France seven times consecutively from 1999 to 2005, but had those titles revoked in 2012 after a doping investigation confirmed drug use. At age 16, Armstrong competed as a triathlete and was a national sprint-course champion in 1989 and 1990. In 1992, he began his professional cycling career with the Motorola team. He received a lifetime ban from all sports under the World Anti-Doping Code, ending his competitive cycling career. In the 1987–1988 Tri-Fed/Texas, Armstrong ranked number one in the 19-and-under group, finishing ahead of Chann McRae, who later became a US Postal Service teammate and 2002 USPRO national champion. In 1987, Armstrong earned more points as an amateur than five professionals ranked above him that year.
