Kurt Warner, born June 22, 1971, played 12 seasons in the NFL as a professional quarterback, primarily with the St. Louis Rams and Arizona Cardinals. His journey from an undrafted free agent to a two-time NFL Most Valuable Player and Super Bowl MVP is considered one of the greatest underdog stories in football history. After playing college football for the Northern Iowa Panthers from 1990 to 1993, Warner went without an NFL roster spot for four years. He joined the St. Louis Rams in 1998, initially serving as a backup before becoming the starting quarterback the following season. In his first season as a starter, Warner led the Rams' high-powered offense to victory in Super Bowl XXXIV, earning both league and Super Bowl MVP honors. After being released by St. Louis in 2004 due to declining performance, Warner played one season with the New York Giants before returning to form with the Arizona Cardinals. Following his college career, Warner was not selected in the 1994 NFL draft, beginning a path that led to his eventual rise in professional football.
