Kirk Daniel Cousins, born August 19, 1988, is an American professional football quarterback who has played in the National Football League. He played college football for the Michigan State Spartans and was selected by the Washington Redskins in the 2012 NFL draft. Cousins ranks sixth all-time in completion percentage with at least 1,500 pass attempts and is 11th in NFL all-time regular season career passer rating. With Washington, he set several franchise records and was named to the 2017 Pro Bowl. After two years of signing franchise tags and being unable to agree on a long-term deal, he signed a fully guaranteed three-year $84 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings in 2018. Cousins finished his high school football career with 3,204 passing yards, 40 touchdowns, and 18 interceptions. After high school, he was set to sign with Toledo or Western Michigan until Mark Dantonio became the head coach at Michigan State in 2007.
