Ketel Marte Biography

Ketel Ricardo Marte Valdez, born October 12, 1993, is a Dominican professional baseball player who plays second base in Major League Baseball. He has played in MLB for the Seattle Mariners and later joined the Arizona Diamondbacks. Marte made his MLB debut with the Mariners in 2015 and was traded to the Diamondbacks during the 2016–17 offseason. He has been named the starting second baseman for the 2019, 2024, and 2025 All-Star Games. In 2013, he played for Clinton and the High Desert Mavericks in the Class A-Advanced California League. Going into the 2016 season, he was named the starting shortstop after the trade of Brad Miller. Marte began the 2017 season with the Reno Aces of the PCL.
