Ken Daneyko Biography

Kenneth Stephen Daneyko was born on April 17, 1964, and is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. He played his entire career with the New Jersey Devils in the National Hockey League and won three Stanley Cup championships with the team. Daneyko played Bantam AA hockey for the Great Falls Americans before moving to another city to play junior hockey at the age of 15. He spent one season with the Yorkton Terriers in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League and recorded one goal and 20 assists during his rookie year. Daneyko was selected 18th overall in the first round of the 1982 NHL entry draft by the New Jersey Devils. At the Devils 1983 training camp, he was paired with veteran defenceman Phil Russell and remained together to begin the 1983–84 season. After rejoining the Kamloops Junior Oilers, Daneyko helped the team qualify for the 1984 Memorial Cup.
