Karl Mecklenburg Biography

Karl Bernard Mecklenburg, born on September 1, 1960, played as a linebacker for the Denver Broncos in the National Football League. He played college football for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. The Denver Broncos selected him in the 12th round with the 310th overall pick in 1983. Despite being drafted late, Mecklenburg became a key contributor to the Broncos' Super Bowl teams during the 1980s. After retiring from professional football in 1994, he has focused on family, motivational speaking, and charitable work. Mecklenburg experienced at least a dozen concussions lasting 10 seconds or more during his football career. He appears in the video game Madden NFL 15 as a 97 Overall player in Ultimate Team mode released in 2014.
