Justin Gaethje Biography

Justin Ray Gaethje, born November 14, 1988, is an American professional mixed martial artist. Gaethje has competed in the lightweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship since 2011, where he has established himself as a top contender. Before joining the UFC, Gaethje competed in the lightweight division of the World Series of Fighting, where he became the first and only WSOF Lightweight Champion. Known as 'the Highlight,' Gaethje has earned recognition for five fights that were named Fight of the Year by multiple media outlets. After working 96 hours in a mine, Gaethje left to pursue college, a path that was doubted by two coworkers who believed he would not succeed. In June 2020, Gaethje was honored with induction into the University of Northern Colorado Athletics Hall of Fame for his achievements in wrestling. After improving his academic performance, Gaethje made his amateur debut on August 2, 2008, during the pre-season of his sophomore year, securing a slam knockout victory.
