Julius Peppers, born on January 18, 1980, is an American former professional football player who played as a defensive end and linebacker in the NFL. Julius Peppers played for the Carolina Panthers after being drafted second overall in 2002, then joined the Chicago Bears in 2010 and the Green Bay Packers in 2014, remaining with each team through 2013 and 2016 respectively. After rejoining the Panthers for the 2017 season, he concluded his NFL career following the 2018 season. Peppers earned nine Pro Bowl selections and was named to both the first and second All-Pro teams three times each. In 2005, he was recognized by the Rocky Mount Telegram as one of the 50 Greatest Athletes from the Twin County area of Nash and Edgecombe. Peppers attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he played defensive end for the Tar Heels from 1998 to 2001. During his sophomore year in 2000, he led the nation with 15 quarterback sacks and received first-team All-ACC and second-team All-American honors.
