Juan Manuel Marquez Biography

Juan Manuel Marquez held world championships across four weight classes, including the lineal title at lightweight. He competed for over twenty years, known for his speed, technical skill, and effectiveness in combinations and counterpunches. Marquez received The Ring magazine Fighter of the Year honor in 2012. He is recognized as one of the greatest boxers of all time, ranked thirteenth by BoxRec and fifth among Mexican boxers pound for pound. Marquez made his professional debut at age 19 on May 29, 1993, losing by disqualification to Javier Duran. In 1997, he captured the WBO NABO Featherweight title and defended it seven times.
