JT Barrett Biography

Joseph Thomas Barrett IV, born on January 23, 1995, is an American football coach and former quarterback who serves as the quarterbacks coach for the Chicago Bears in the National Football League. He played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes, earning third-team All-American honors during the 2014 season. After retiring as a player, Barrett began a coaching career and served as an assistant coach for the Detroit Lions from 2022 to 2024. In spring 2011, he competed in track and field, recording a personal-best time of 11.10 seconds in the 100-meter dash and helping his team finish second in the 4 x 400-meter relay with a time of 3:46.05. He was ranked by Rivals.com as a four-star recruit and the seventh best dual-threat quarterback in his class. As a redshirt sophomore in 2015, Barrett passed for 992 yards and 11 touchdowns, splitting time with another quarterback. Barrett returned to Ohio State for his final season of eligibility in 2017.
