Josh Jung Biography

Josh Jung, born on February 12, 1998, is an American professional baseball player who serves as a third baseman in Major League Baseball. He played college baseball for the Texas Tech Red Raiders and was selected by the Texas Rangers in the first round of the 2019 MLB draft. In 2017, as a freshman, Jung started all 62 games at third base, posting a .306 batting average with six home runs and 43 RBIs. Prior to his junior year, he was recognized as a preseason All-American by multiple outlets including Perfect Game and Baseball America. Jung received the 2019 Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award, honoring the top Division I baseball player from Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, or Oklahoma. On July 10, 2019, he made his professional debut with the Arizona League Rangers, hitting a home run in his first at-bat. He did not play in any minor league games during 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
