José Ramírez Biography

José Enrique Ramírez Mateo, born on September 17, 1992, is a Dominican professional baseball third baseman who has played in Major League Baseball. He signed with the Cleveland Indians in 2009 and made his MLB debut in 2013 after progressing through the organization's minor league system. Ramírez has earned seven All-Star selections, six Silver Slugger Awards, and three All-MLB Team honors during his career. In 2018, he hit 39 home runs and stole 34 bases, becoming a member of the 30–30 club. At age 17 in 2009, he demonstrated his talent by recording 11 hits in four games over three days at the Cleveland Indians' Dominican facility. He missed the 2010 season and began his professional career in 2011 with the Arizona Indians of the Rookie-level Arizona League. In 2014, he started the season in the minors and posted a .319 batting average with on-base and slugging percentages of .363 and .484 in 105 plate appearances.
