Johnny Bucyk Biography

John Paul Bucyk, born on May 12, 1935, is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame. He played most of his career as a left winger with the Boston Bruins and has remained connected to the Bruins organization since the 1950s. Bucyk was recognized as one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players in 2017. He served as senior alternate captain when the Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup in 1970 and again in 1972. After retiring, Bucyk has continued to serve the Bruins in various roles including commentator, director, and ambassador. During the offseason, he returned to Edmonton and worked at a car dealership that sponsored his junior team. In 1954, he led the WCHL in playoff scoring with 28 goals in 21 games and also led all scorers in the Memorial Cup with 14 goals in 14 games.
