John Elway Biography

John Elway, born June 28, 1960, played 16 seasons in the NFL as a professional quarterback for the Denver Broncos. After retiring as a player, he spent 11 years in front office roles with the Broncos, eventually serving as general manager. Elway is one of only two individuals to have been associated with all three of the Broncos' Super Bowl victories. In January 1987, he led a 98-yard touchdown drive in the AFC Championship Game against the Cleveland Browns. The Broncos won their first Super Bowl title in 1997, ending a period of decline during that season. Elway was named Super Bowl MVP in his final game, setting a then-record for most Super Bowl starts by a quarterback. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2004.
