John Patrick Daly, born April 28, 1966, is an American professional golfer who competes on the PGA Tour and PGA Tour Champions. Daly has secured professional victories across multiple international locations including South Africa, Eswatini, Scotland, Germany, South Korea, Turkey, and Canada. In 1997, he became the first PGA Tour player since 1980 to average over 300 yards per drive for an entire season. He remains the only golfer from the U.S. or Europe to win two major championships without being selected for the Ryder Cup since 1927. Daly played collegiate golf at the University of Arkansas from 1984 to 1987 on a golf scholarship. He left the university without earning a degree and turned professional in the summer of 1987. From 1987 to 1989, Daly competed primarily in minor U.S. events and achieved notable results during the 1989–90 season on the Southern African Tour.
