Joel Norman Quenneville, born September 15, 1958, is a Canadian-American former ice hockey player and current head coach in the National Hockey League. Nicknamed "Coach Q", he holds the second-most NHL coaching wins with 1,000 victories, trailing only Scotty Bowman. Quenneville achieved his greatest success as head coach of the Chicago Blackhawks, a role he held from 2008 to 2018. As a player, Quenneville was selected 21st overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1978 NHL entry draft. He previously won the Stanley Cup as an assistant coach with the Colorado Avalanche in 1996. Quenneville then joined the St. Louis Blues, assuming head coaching duties midway through the season after Mike Keenan was dismissed. He was hired as head coach by the Avalanche in June 2004, prior to the 2004–05 NHL season being canceled due to a lockout.
