Joe Flacco, born on January 16, 1985, is an American professional football quarterback who has played in the National Football League. He played college football for the Pittsburgh Panthers and the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens before being selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2008 NFL draft. Flacco served as the starting quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens from 2008 until midway through the 2018 season, contributing to six playoff appearances during his tenure. The Ravens won the AFC North twice, reached three AFC Championship Games, and captured Super Bowl XLVII following the 2012 season. Flacco was named Super Bowl XLVII's Most Valuable Player after a postseason performance in which he recorded 11 touchdown passes without an interception. As a freshman, Flacco was redshirted by the Pittsburgh Panthers, a team that posted an 8–5 record in 2003. In 2004, he served as the backup quarterback behind starter Tyler Palko, who led the team to an 8–4 record.
