Joe Burrow Biography

Joseph Lee Burrow, born on December 10, 1996, is an American professional football player who has served as a quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals in the National Football League. After playing college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes, he transferred to the LSU Tigers and won the Heisman Trophy and the College Football Playoff National Championship in 2019. In 2021, Burrow led the Bengals to their first playoff victory since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, and reached Super Bowl LVI, earning Comeback Player of the Year. Despite Cincinnati not qualifying for the playoffs in 2024, Burrow led the NFL in passing yards and passing touchdowns, earning his second Comeback Player of the Year Award. Burrow's athletic lineage includes his paternal grandmother, who scored 82 points in a high school basketball game during the 1940s, as noted in a 2019 Sports Illustrated report. His paternal grandfather played basketball at Mississippi State, his uncle played football at Ole Miss, and two older brothers played football at Nebraska. Burrow attended Athens High School from 2011 to 2014, guiding the team to three straight playoff appearances and securing the school's first seven playoff wins in history.
