Jonathan Clay JJ Redick was born on June 24, 1984, and is an American professional basketball coach and former player who has served as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA. Redick played college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils, earning numerous individual accolades including the Naismith College Player of the Year award. Redick demonstrated consistent accuracy in three-point and free-throw shooting during his college and professional basketball career. He established multiple records at Duke, including the all-time leading scorer and the most points in a single season. In 2016, Redick became the first active NBA player and the second active professional athlete to launch a weekly podcast during the regular season. Redick's high school scoring total in a VHSL championship game set a record across all classes, a mark that stood until 2018 when Mac McClung scored 47 points. He played AAU basketball for coach Delmar Irving with the Roanoke Jaguars and later the Boo Williams team, competing against Dwyane Wade in a July 1999 tournament in Orlando.
