Jevon Kearse Biography

Jevon Kearse, born on September 3, 1976, is an American former professional football defensive end who played in the National Football League for 11 seasons, primarily with the Tennessee Titans. Nicknamed The Freak, he spent seven nonconsecutive seasons with the Titans and four with the Philadelphia Eagles. Jevon Kearse played for the Florida Gators, secured a victory in the 1997 Sugar Bowl, and received All-American recognition and SEC Defensive Player of the Year accolades in 1998. Kearse was selected by the Titans in the first round of the 1999 NFL draft. In his first season, he set the NFL record for rookie sacks, earning him NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. Kearse earned three straight Pro Bowl honors and played in the franchise's first Super Bowl appearance during Super Bowl XXXIV. The Gators coaches red-shirted Kearse for the 1995 season, and he watched the Gators' run for the 1995 national championship game from the sidelines.
