Jeremy Roenick, born January 17, 1970, is an American former professional ice hockey player who played as a center for 20 seasons in the National Hockey League. At age 18, Roenick was drafted eighth overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in 1988 after excelling in hockey at Thayer Academy. He recorded his first 20-goal season in 1989 and later achieved four consecutive seasons with at least 40 goals, including 50 in both 1991–92 and 1992–93. Roenick represented Team USA in multiple international tournaments during his career. As a youth, he played in the 1982 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a team from Middlesex County, Connecticut, and again in 1983 with the Washington Capitals minor team. He then moved to Fairfax, Virginia, where he played for the bantam-level New Jersey Rockets, who won national championships in 1984–85 and 1985–86. Roenick scored 70 points in 28 games during the 1988–89 season with the Olympiques before competing for the United States at the 1989 World Junior Championship.
