Jaylon Smith, born on June 14, 1995, is an American professional football linebacker. Jaylon Smith played college football at Notre Dame and was drafted 34th overall by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft. Jaylon Smith contributed to Bishop Luers' 40–28 victory over Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter in the 2012 Indiana 2A title game by rushing for 150 yards and scoring three touchdowns. Jaylon Smith placed third in the shot put with a distance of 47 feet 5 inches and eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.46 seconds at the 2013 SAC T&F Meet. Smith signed his letter of intent on February 6, 2013, and committed to attend and play football at the University of Notre Dame. In 2013, Smith won the starting DOG linebacker position beating out Ben Councell, after incumbent starter Danny Spond had to retire due to migraine issues. On January 11, 2016, Smith announced he would forego his remaining eligibility and enter the 2016 NFL draft.
