Jason Hammel Biography

Jason Aaron Hammel, born on September 2, 1982, is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He has played in Major League Baseball for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays/Rays, Colorado Rockies, Baltimore Orioles, Oakland Athletics, Chicago Cubs, and Kansas City Royals. Hammel led South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard, Washington, to a 20–1 record in 2000 as the team's number one starter. He was drafted in the 23rd round by the Seattle Mariners but chose to attend Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Oregon. The Tampa Bay Devil Rays selected Hammel in the 10th round of the 2002 MLB draft. Hammel agreed to a two-year contract with the Rockies prior to the 2011 season. Jason Hammel received his first ejection in 2013 during a matchup against the Tigers, when home plate umpire Hunter Wendelstedt removed him from the game.
