Jared Allen Biography

Jared Allen, born April 3, 1982, was an American professional football player who played as a defensive end in the NFL for 12 seasons. He recorded 136 career sacks and was selected as a five-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro. Allen played college football for the Idaho State Bengals and was chosen by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL draft. After four seasons with the Chiefs, he was traded to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for three draft picks, including a first-round selection. Following his NFL career, Allen began competing in curling and formed a team with other former NFL players. As a freshman in 2000, he played in eight games for the Bengals and earned honorable mention All-Big Sky honors despite never starting. In 2001, he earned First-team All-Big Sky honors, led the Bengals with 16 tackles for loss, and recorded 6.5 sacks.
