Jacob Green Biography

Jacob Carl Green, born on January 21, 1957, was an American former professional football player who played as a defensive end in the National Football League. He played college football for the Texas A&M Aggies, contributing significantly to the team's defensive efforts. In 1979, Green earned All-American recognition after recording 134 tackles and a school-record 20 quarterback sacks. His 37 career sacks at Texas A&M remain second in school history, behind Aaron Wallace's 42. Green holds Texas A&M records for career fumbles caused with 12 and for most fumbles caused in a single season with six in 1978. He was selected 10th overall in the 1980 NFL draft by the Seattle Seahawks, marking the start of his professional career. Green recorded 97.5 career sacks for the Seahawks, a team record, with an unofficial total of 115.5, as sacks became an official NFL statistic in 1982.
