Jack Youngblood Biography

Herbert Jackson Youngblood III, born on January 26, 1950, played as a defensive end for the Los Angeles Rams in the NFL for fourteen seasons during the 1970s and 1980s. Youngblood earned five-time consensus All-Pro recognition and was selected to seven Pro Bowls, later being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He played college football for the University of Florida, where he was named an All-American. In 1989, Sports Illustrated named Youngblood to Florida's All-Time High School Football Team. At the University of Florida, Youngblood was a three-year varsity letterman from 1968 to 1970 under coaches Ray Graves and Doug Dickey, and was a brother in the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. In 1969, Youngblood helped lead the Florida Gators to a 9–1–1 record, including a win over Tennessee in the Gator Bowl during coach Ray Graves's final game. He first gained national attention on October 4, 1969, during a 21–6 victory over Florida State University, recording five sacks in the game.
