Hersey R. Hawkins Jr., born on September 29, 1966, is an American former professional basketball player who competed in the National Basketball Association. Standing 6 feet 3 inches tall, he played as a shooting guard and starred at George Westinghouse College Prep before joining the Bradley Braves. Hersey Hawkins played for four teams during his 12-year professional basketball career in the NBA. He earned NBA All-Rookie First Team honors in 1989, marking a strong debut in the league. In 1993, he was traded to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Dana Barros, Sidney Green, and draft picks. During the 1993–94 season, he wore number 32 with the Hornets due to Alonzo Mourning’s use of number 33. In 2006, he joined Estrella Foothills High School in Goodyear, Arizona, as an assistant coach for the varsity basketball team.
