Herschel Junior Walker, born on March 3, 1962, serves as the United States ambassador to the Bahamas starting in 2025. A member of the Republican Party, he previously played in the National Football League (NFL) for 12 seasons. Walker played college football for the Georgia Bulldogs, winning the Heisman Trophy in 1982. Herschel Walker played his first three professional seasons from 1983 to 1985 with the New Jersey Generals in the USFL and earned MVP honors during his final year in the league. Herschel Walker played in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys after the USFL ended and received Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro recognition in 1987 and 1988. Walker was inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1999. In addition to his football career, Walker competed for the U.S. in bobsleigh during the 1992 Winter Olympics and engaged in food processing enterprises.
