Henrik Lundqvist, born on 2 March 1982, is a Swedish former professional ice hockey player who played as a goaltender. He spent 15 seasons in the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers, establishing himself as a top-tier goaltender. Before winning the Vezina Trophy in 2012, he was nominated in each of his first three seasons, and recorded eleven 30-win seasons in his first twelve. In 2005, Henrik Lundqvist received the Guldpucken and the Guldhjälmen, two of the top honors in Swedish ice hockey. After a strong pre-season, Lundqvist made his Elitserien debut on 21 September 2000, in a 4–2 loss to Brynäs IF. His turning point came in 2001 at the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships in Moscow, where he guided Sweden to a fourth-place finish. During the 2004–05 season, he set four Swedish national records, including a 1.05 goals against average and a 172-minute 29-second goalless streak.
