Greg Norman Biography

Gregory John Norman, born on 10 February 1955, held the world number one ranking for 331 weeks during the 1980s and 1990s. He captured 88 professional victories, including 20 on the PGA Tour and major titles at The Open Championship in 1986 and 1993. Norman recorded thirty top-10 finishes in major championships and was runner-up eight times across his career. His nickname, "the Great White Shark," derived from his blond hair, stature, playing style, and Australian coastal roots, was solidified after his 1981 Masters performance. Norman initiated business ventures during his professional golf career. He became a Trustee of the Environmental Institute for Golf in 2004 and received the Golf Writers Association of America's Bartlett Award in 2008.
