Greg Maddux Biography

Gregory Alan Maddux, born April 14, 1966, played 23 seasons in MLB, primarily with the Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs. He became the first pitcher to win the Cy Young Award four straight years from 1992 to 1995. During those seasons, he posted a 75–29 record with a 1.98 ERA and allowed under one baserunner per inning. Maddux is the only pitcher to win at least 15 games in 17 consecutive seasons. He recorded more wins in the 1990s than any other pitcher and ranks eighth all-time with 355 career wins. Only Warren Spahn, with 363 wins, recorded more career wins since 1920. In 2012, the term "Maddux" was coined for a complete game shutout under 100 pitches, a feat he achieved 13 times since 1988.
