Grant Fuhr Biography

Grant Scott Fuhr, born September 28, 1962, is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. He played 19 seasons in the National Hockey League, including 10 with the Edmonton Oilers, winning five Stanley Cup championships. Fuhr holds records for most games played in a single season (79) and most assists and points by a goaltender (61). In his first eight seasons, he won 211 games, claimed the Vezina Trophy in 1987–88, and was selected to the NHL All-Star Game six times. Amidst personal challenges, Fuhr was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1991 and later joined the Buffalo Sabres in 1992–93. After retiring, he served as a goaltending coach for the Calgary Flames from 2000 to 2002 and the Arizona Coyotes from 2004 to 2010. After two strong seasons in Victoria, Fuhr was drafted eighth overall by the Edmonton Oilers on June 10, 1981.
