Gerald Bernard Wilkins, born on September 11, 1963, is an American former professional basketball player. He is a 6-foot-6-inch shooting guard and small forward who played collegiately at Moberly Area Community College and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He was a key contributor on the New York Knicks team of the late 1980s, often ranking as the second-leading scorer behind Patrick Ewing. Wilkins was selected in the 1985 NBA draft and earned Player of the Week honors on March 3, 1991. He participated in the 1986 and 1987 NBA Slam Dunk Contests, finishing fourth and tied for seventh, respectively. After the 1992 season, he became a free agent and signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers, a team featuring Mark Price, Larry Nance, and Brad Daugherty. It was in his final season with the Orlando Magic that Gerald played alongside his older brother Dominique Wilkins, though both were used sparingly due to their advanced career stages.
