George F. McGinnis, born August 12, 1950, played 11 professional seasons in the ABA and NBA before passing away on December 14, 2023. He earned third-team All-American honors in 1971 while playing college basketball for the Indiana Hoosiers. McGinnis was named ABA MVP in 1975 and won two ABA championships with the Indiana Pacers. He set an Indiana state tournament scoring record with 148 points across his final four games. In the 1970–71 season, he became the first sophomore to lead the Big Ten in both scoring and rebounding. His best season came in 1974–75, when he scored a career-high 29.8 points and recorded 6.3 assists per game. On April 12, 1975, he recorded the first 50+ point triple-double in NBA/ABA Playoff history with 51 points, 17 rebounds, and 10 assists.
