George Karlaftis Biography

George Karlaftis, born on 3 April 2001, is a Greek-born American football defensive end who plays in the National Football League. He played college football for the Purdue Boilermakers and earned all-Big Ten honors prior to being selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2022 NFL draft. Karlaftis made his NFL debut as a regular starter and was part of the Chiefs' Super Bowl LVII championship team. During his second season, he contributed significantly to the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory in Super Bowl LVIII. He was named Defensive Player of the Year in the 2019 U.S. Army All-American Game during his high school career. Karlaftis entered the 2022 NFL draft after recording 4.5 sacks during the 2021 college season. He concluded his rookie season with 33 tackles, six sacks, two fumble recoveries, and seven passes defended.
