George Foreman Biography

George Edward Foreman was born on January 10, 1949, and passed away on March 21, 2025, as an American professional boxer, businessman, minister, and author. Foreman competed in boxing from 1967 to 1997 and was widely known by the nickname Big George. After facing challenges in his youth, he began amateur boxing and earned a gold medal in the heavyweight division at the 1968 Summer Olympics. After turning professional, he captured the undisputed world heavyweight title by defeating the previously undefeated Joe Frazier in the second round in 1973. Following a loss to Jimmy Young in 1977, Foreman retired from boxing. On June 28, 1995, he relinquished his IBF title after a single successful defense against Axel Schulz. Foreman holds the record for the longest interval between world title reigns, a span exceeding 20 years.
