Geno Smith Biography

Eugene Cyril Geno Smith III, born October 10, 1990, is an American professional football quarterback who has played in the National Football League. He earned first-team All-Big East honors during his 2011 college football season with the West Virginia Mountaineers. Smith joined the Seattle Seahawks in 2019 and became the team’s starter three years later, achieving a league-high completion percentage during a playoff-qualifying season. He has earned a second consecutive Pro Bowl selection in 2023 after playing two more seasons with the Seahawks. His great-uncle, Danny Smith, was a record-breaking All-American hurdler at Florida State, and his cousin Mel Bratton played as a star running back at Miami in the mid-1980s. As a junior, Smith passed for 2,200 yards and 25 touchdowns with only three interceptions, earning second-team all-state honors as a quarterback. During his senior season, he led his team to the state 6A semi-finals, completing 205 of 338 passes for 3,089 yards and 30 touchdowns while also rushing for over 300 yards.
