Gary Phillip Reasons, born on February 18, 1962, was an American former professional football player who played as a linebacker in the National Football League. He played college football for the Northwestern State Demons from 1980 to 1983 and was recognized as a first-team Division I-AA All-American for three consecutive years. After his playing career, Reasons worked as a college football television analyst and sideline reporter for ABC/ESPN and Fox Sports Southwest. He attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, where he developed his football foundation. Reasons was selected by the New York Giants in the fourth round with the 105th overall pick in the 1984 NFL draft. He made a key defensive stop during a game, preventing a touchdown and helping the Giants advance to the playoffs. During the 1990 NFC Championship Game, he ran for 30 yards on a fourth-quarter fake punt, contributing to the Giants’ 15–13 victory over the San Francisco 49ers and their trip to Super Bowl XXV.
