Frederick Charles Freeman, born on September 12, 1989, is a Canadian and American professional baseball first baseman who has played in Major League Baseball. Freeman began his MLB career with the Atlanta Braves in 2010 and remained with the team for 12 seasons. After the Atlanta Braves won the 2021 World Series, Freeman signed a six-year contract worth $162 million with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Freeman has represented Canada in international baseball competitions, competing on the national team. Freeman wears a long-sleeved shirt during games in memory of his mother Rosemary, who passed away from melanoma when he was 10. As a senior in 2007, Freeman posted a .417 batting average and recorded a 6–1 win–loss record as a pitcher. The Atlanta Braves drafted Freeman in the second round with the 78th overall pick during the 2007 MLB draft.
