Frank Edward Thomas Jr., born May 27, 1968, earned the nickname "the Big Hurt" as a prominent American baseball player. He played in the American League from 1990 to 2008, spending most of his career with the Chicago White Sox. Thomas achieved seven straight seasons from 1991 to 1997 with at least .300 batting, 100 runs, 100 walks, 20 home runs, and 100 RBI. Thomas won the 1997 American League batting title with a .347 average. Selected seventh overall by the White Sox in the 1989 MLB draft, Thomas made his major league debut the following year. He was awarded the AL MVP in 1993, receiving unanimous votes for his outstanding performance. After posting career highs of 43 home runs and 143 RBI in 2000, he narrowly missed the MVP award.
