Franklin Gore Sr. was born on May 14, 1983, and played 16 seasons as a professional football running back in the National Football League. He spent most of his career with the San Francisco 49ers and ranks third in NFL history for career rushing yards. Gore played college football for the Miami Hurricanes and was selected by the 49ers in the third round of the 2005 NFL draft. He led the NFC in rushing yards during the 2006 season and appeared in Super Bowl XLVII in 2012. After leaving San Francisco at the end of the 2014 season, he played for the Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, and New York Jets. During his senior year in 2000, he broke several Dade County single-season records, including 2,997 rushing yards and 39 touchdowns. As a true freshman in 2001, he recorded 562 yards and five touchdowns on 62 carries, averaging 9.1 yards per carry, while backing up Clinton Portis on Miami's national championship team.
